Image of children running through a playground field with the caption of Childhood Obesity Awareness MonthAbout 1 of every 5 (17%) children in the United States has obesity and certain groups of children are more affected than others.  Childhood obesity is an issue that none of us can ignore.   National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month provides an opportunity for learning about ways to prevent and address this serious health concern.  It is our responsibility to work together as a community and school to help our children make healthier food and beverage choices.  In doing so, it is also important to stress that physical activity is an easy choice for children and adolescents to help prevent childhood obesity.  Please visit Center for Disease Control and Prevention for more information on how to support the healthy growth of our children.
