Image of an Asian family eating a meal in a white kitchen What began as a week-long observance in March of 1973 as “National Nutrition Week”, it soon became a month-long observance in 1980 in response to growing public interest in nutrition.  With hectic schedules, it has become the norm to have a grab-and-go meal, but it is suggested that coming together for family meals is one way for children to learn how to make wise choices when eating.  This bonding time offers the family a chance to try new foods and to discuss the daily activities that are often missed out on while at work and school.
