Red heart with a stethoscope with caption of go red for heart health monthFebruary is American Heart Month to remind us to take care of our heart.   The annual celebration began in 1963 to encourage Americans to join the battle against heart disease.  We want everyone to celebrate American Heart Month by helping to raise awareness in our communities about heart disease.  This is a great time for everyone to commit to a healthier lifestyle to promote a healthy heart!  Heart disease and the conditions that lead to it, can happen at any age.

4 Key Ways to Promote Heart Health:’

  • Do not smoke, if you do, now is the time to consider cutting back to quit
  • Manage conditions as they arise with your health care professional
  • Eat healthy, by cutting back on sodium (salt) and foods with added sugar
  • Stay active, at least 30 minutes per day
